Private?
I think for the last month I've had a weird comment on every post that I've done. And they're all in Chinese or something. Does this happen to anybody else? And is it something that should make me want to go private on our blog? I'm just getting really sick of those comments. I delete them as they're coming. It's so frustrating. I don't want to have to go private because of how many people look at our blog. But I'll do it if it means online safety.

I got some of those, I translate them and they usually say something like. "I like this post, keep on posting." I delete them and wish I could do something more. I have had the same dilemma about being private, I have switched back and forth so many times! Good luck, but if you got private invite me back!!
It was a crappy decision for me too, but I'm honestly really happy with being private. Anyone that REALLY wants to see my blog will let me know & anyone else just has to miss out. :) You can only have 100 readers, which TOTALLY sucks, so you might have to do some cut backs, but you'll eventually find the people that consistently check private blogs & those that don't & can narrow it down from there. Ive never gotten those kind of comments before. But if I did I would question if I should go private or not. In the end, there are people who like to look at my blog so I just don't want to do it. I think whatever you feel will be best go for it. THe comments could be harmless, but you never know. Sorry I'm not much help. love you!
I've had the same things--except mine are gibberish with some words like Viagra! I tend to be cynical though-like if someone's going to use my blog to baby snatch they would find her anyway. Scary thought though...we're buying a gun even bc it freaks me out so bad--- I guess I just think danger will be there regardless. IDK. I will admit though, I just plain don't read my friends blogs that are private bc I usually check from my iPod (like now) and it's too big of a pain...

Those comments are probably just ads. I used to get a few ads posted on mine from strangers. I could only tell they were ads because they included a link. It's annoying but I don't know that it is unsafe. Something you should know is that when you go private you are only allowed to have 100 readers. I get the feeling that you have more than that. Some people would be left out. Just a thought.
That's crazy you are getting weird comments. I will be honest that I always forget to read people's blogs when they are private. Just make sure you don't put any really personal info on there so people can find you. That is a hard decision though. Let me know if you go private and I will make sure you add me!
I didn't know that you could only have 100 readers. I've never got any messages like that on my blog. But I too have been meaning to go private. I still have to figure everything out about it. I'm not sure how you put the emails in and invite people and all that stuff. And I'm so behind with my blog that I just keep trying to catch up. And I tell myself that once I'm caught up I will figure it out. I did start to get emails from people so then when I REALLY do decided to do it I'll at least have a start. I think the hard part is making sure you get everyone that reads your email. I know that there were people that didn't leave there email on my blog but I know they read it. It's a hard choice.
