Thumbs Down to Brown

Tyson and I look forward to watching "The Biggest Loser" every Tuesday night. I have always been a fan of the brown team, father and son Ron and Mike. The last couple of weeks I've thought it was time for Ron (the father) to go home. He hadn't been keeping up with the other contestants and was just safe at every elimination. And last week it came down to him and Nicole. It was time for him to leave, and the Tongan cousins Sione and Filipe, and mother Helen all thought the same. It turned out that Nicole was voted to go home and Ron was safe for another week.

Last night we were SO disappointed in Ron's reaction to Sione and Filipe voting for him to go home. It was so immature and unnecessary, it just made us mad. Ron and Mike both kept saying how Sione and Filipe were traitors and they thought they had each other's backs. Mike said some things that were so incredibly harsh and rediculous. The one that stands out in my mind is, "I hope you get struck down and die." Seriously, is that really necessary? They're not on teams anymore, and eventually all but the winner are going to get voted off. Plus, did Ron forget that he himself voted for Filipe to go home the week before? And he's mad because Sione voted for him this week?! Whose the traitor now! It's every man for himself right now, and we thought Ron and Mike reacted so poorly to Sione and Filipe's decision. We were hoping Ron would fall below the yellow line and get sent home. He deserves to go home now. And it's really a bummer because I liked the brown team. But now we're seeing their true colors!

On another note, I think a lot of DVR users were disappointed last night when they watched "American Idol" and it got cut off before Adam Lambert could perform. We sure were! I had to look up the performance online this morning so I could see it. After work I found an interesting article about the incident, including pieces of Adam's performance and the judges' reactions. It also talks about the possibility of Adam being in the bottom three tonight because of this.

Tuesday Nights Mean Treats at Our House

We love Tuesday nights! Not only is it one of our favorite nights of TV (the other is Thursday's), but it means we get a yummy treat to munch on. I always make some kind of baked good on Tuesday nights while we're enjoying "The Biggest Loser" and "American Idol." Tonight we have a batch of chocolate brownies in the oven and I can't wait to eat one! For some reason, watching "Biggest Loser" gives us major sweet tooths so we have always made something while the show is running. But even though we like to make something sweet on Tuesday nights, "The Biggest Loser" keeps us motivated to work out and eat better. We love it! This is one of the many things that has been so fun about being married to Tyson. We have so much fun together, and every day is a new adventure.

Here's to many more Tuesday nights together!

Ashleigh's Bridal Shower

We had a wonderful conference weekend. It was very relaxing, and we were able to spend a lot of time with family. On Saturday night while the men were at the priesthood session of conference, the ladies in the Murri family (my mom's side) thought it would be perfect to have my cousin Ashleigh's bridal shower. Ashleigh and Nathan are getting married May 30th in the Bountiful Temple. She is Bob and Penney's daughter, the ones that I lived with while I worked in Salt Lake this last fall. It was great having everybody together. Deidre had to miss because she lives in St. George and couldn't come up. We love you, Dei! But the bridal shower was a lot of fun. I'm so grateful for such a wonderful family!

Gotcha!...Sort of

Happy April Fools Day, everybody! I hope all you pranksters out there have had a blast playing pranks today. I know people that LIVE for this day. All their energy goes into making it better than the year before. I wasn't planning on doing anything to anybody, but yesterday I decided on a last-minute trick for my husband.

I decided that I wanted to get him in some way, so being the trickster that I am, I got home from work before him yesterday and switched all the cereal bags into different boxes. So if he grabbed for the Lucky Charms he would pour Honey Bunches of Oats into his bowl. Or the Cinnamon Toast Crunch would actually be Honey Nut Cheerios. Genius idea. Tyson and I got up around 7:15 this morning and I got to the kitchen before him. Then it dawned on me that he quite possibly could want something besides cereal for breakfast, like grapefruit. I hadn't thought of that! So of course I'm trying to sway his cravings toward cereal by saying things like, "What kind of cereal would you like?" or "Gosh, Shredded Wheat sounds awesome this morning." Lucky for me he wanted Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Perfect. This was going to be great. My plan was working. As he grabbed for the box and opened it, I was standing behind him beaming like a seven-year-old about to mess with the four-year-old brother. I'm grinning from ear to ear as Honey Nut Cheerios came spilling from the box and into his bowl. While he looked into the box and at his cereal all sorts of confused I jumped up saying, "April Fools! I tricked you!" In response he said, "Oh, you really got me."

I could tell he was just trying to be nice, it really was kind of a lame trick ha ha. But it was pretty funny to watch Tyson look so confused for a minute. That's about as much of a trickster I am! All in all I was pretty proud of myself for playing a joke on Tyson today.

"Don't You Smile at Me!"

The weirdest thing happened to me at Walmart. I was getting groceries and minding my own business. I'm a pretty friendly person, and when I make eye contact with people I just naturally smile at them. Nothing freaky and huge, just a polite smile. As I was bagging apples I looked up and saw a couple walking by. I made eye contact with the woman and smiled. But instead of a normal smile back (or sometimes even a "hi" from some people) she said, "Don't you smile at me!" and kept on walking. Her husband just looked at me and continued on with his wife. I was kind of thrown off for a second, and it momentarily made me feel bad. But then I just laughed to myself and brushed it off.

Kind of a random story, but I thought it was pretty funny. Some people just don't want to be smiled at, I guess! I'll be sure to watch out for her next time.

A Visit from the Gift Card Fairy

On Friday morning I was on my way out the door for work when I noticed something on the front of my car. When I got closer to my car I noticed it was a Texas Roadhouse gift card, and it was wedged down between the bra and the hood. At first I thought somehow it had gotten lost. But when I noticed how wedged down there it was I realized someone had placed it there. I left it in my car until after work when I got home. Tyson was home as well and I told him about the card. There wasn't a sleeve on it so I didn't know how much it was for. It was then that I decided to call and see what the balance was. It was a $25 card, and I was completely shocked that someone was nice enough to leave it for me on my car. And I don't even know how long it had been there! I noticed it when I was leaving the house for work.

We decided last night to go to Roadhouse for dinner and use the card. It was the first time Tyson and I had gone to dinner by ourselves in who knows how long. And it was so much fun! We have no idea who placed the card on my car. But at any rate, we just want to thank the person who was generous enough to give us the gift card and allow us to have a date night together. That was so thoughtful, and Tyson and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
